(Comment by Mrs. Apple: “This is a singing game, and it’s called ‘Go Round and Round the Levee,’ and I think it explains itself.”)

Go round and round the levee,
Go round and round the levee,
Go round and round the levee,
‘Til we have named the day.

Go forth and chase your lover,
Go forth and face your lover,
Go forth and face your lover,
‘Til we have named the day.

I’ll measure my love to show you,
I’ll measure my love to show you,
I’ll measure my love to show you,
‘Til we have gained the day.

One kiss and then I’ll leave you,
One kiss and then I’ll leave you,
One kiss and then I’ll leave you,
‘Til we have gained the day.

(Mrs. Apple: “And then this partner would step back into line, and another one would be chosen.”
Dr. Wolf: “Are they walking while they . . .”
Mrs. Apple: “They’re walking all the time.”
Dr. Wolf: “They’re going round and round?”
Mrs. Apple: “They’re walking round and round and everybody holds hands. And you know, I believe kids, when they did, that had more rhythm.”
Dr. Wolf: “Yeah, they have one in the middle, do they, one in the center?”
Mrs. Apple: “Always in the center.”)
