(Comment by Mrs. Apple: “This song is called ‘Where’d You Get That Hat?’ and it was my father’s favorite, and I’ve heard him sing it so many times, I’d like to sing it now.”)

Now how I came to get this hat,
‘Twas very strange and funny.
My grandfather died,
And left me his property and money,
And when the will was read,
They told me straight and flat,
That if I wanted his money,
I’d have to wear this hat.
Where did you get that hat, that hat?
Where did you get that style?
Isn’t it a daisy; it’s just the proper style.
I should like to have one
Just the same as that.
Where’er I’d go, they’d shout, “Hello!
Where did you get that hat?”
