Buffalo girls, are you coming out tonight?
Buffalo girls, are you coming out tonight?
Buffalo girls, are you coming out tonight?
To dance by the light of the moon.

Yes, my love, we're coming out tonight.
Yes, my love, we're coming out tonight.
Yes, my love, we're coming out tonight,
To dance by the light of the moon.

We'll dance all night 'til broad daylight.
We'll dance all night 'til broad daylight.
Dance all night 'til broad daylight,
And go home with the girls in the morning.

(Dr. Wolf: "Buffalo boys, would you sing that?"
Mrs. Ash: "Well, he said you could sing it either buffalo boys or girls, you see. If they happen to put the boys in the middle, why the girls have to go 'round. But they choose their partners, a boy and a girl, and the boy puts his girl in the center and he stands right opposite of her until they all start to singing. When they get all the girls in the center, why, then they start marching around, and when each boy comes to his partner, he takes her out and swings her once, and then they march around together until they get back to the place where they started. And then they sing it again and they . . . until each boy has swung with each girl in the center and then they . . . Each one promenades once around until they get them all through. Then if they want to change it, why they can put all the boys in there and then they change from the buffalo gals. Then they sing buffalo boys.")
