My name, ‘tis Billie Barnes.
I’m just from over town.
I’ve traveled this world over,
I’ve traveled this world ‘round.
I’ve had my ups and down,
But life was better . . .
‘Til I reached old Arkansas.

My name ‘tis Billie Barnes,

I never knew what trouble was
‘Til I come to Arkansas.

It was the merry month of June.
I landed at Hot Springs
One sultry afternoon.
Up stepped a walking skeleton,
Presented me his paw,
Asked me to his hotel,
The best in Arkansas.

I followed my conductor
Unto his boarding place,
And . . .
