I used to have two little dogs,
With tiny little ears,
And Daddy sold them ‘cause they used
To bite each other’s ears.

I used to cry day and night,
And Papa put me to bed,
And Mama came and wiped the tears.
I cried again and said:
“Daddy wouldn’t buy me a bow-wow, bow-wow,
Daddy wouldn’t buy me a bow-wow-wow.
I had a little cat
And I was very fond of that,
But I’d rather have a bow-wow-wow.”

(Comment by Mrs. Barnes: “Now that’s all there is to that song.”)
