I am a bandit highwayman;
Cole Younger is my name.
A many of murdering cases
I've brought my friends to shame.
Robbing of the Northfield Bank
And its which I can't deny.
And now I am a poor prisoner
And still in jail I lie.

We set out for Texas,
That good old lone star state.
Out on the prairies
The James boys we did meet.
With guns and knives and revolvers,
We all sat down to play,
While drinking a lot of good whiskey, boys,
To pass the time away.

We saddled up our horses
And northway we did go.
To the godforsaken country
Called Min-ne-sot-eo.
I had my eye on the Kedo bank,
When brother Bob did say,
"Now, Cole, if you undertake the job,
You're sure to curse the day."

We stationed out our tickets,
And up to the bar did go,
And there upon the counter
We struck a plate of gold,
Saying, "Hand us out your money,
And make no delay,
For we are the noted Younger boys;
We spare no time to pray."

(Mrs. Daugherty: "That's part of it.")
