Once there was a little boy,
Lived by himself,
And all the bread and cheese he got,
He laid them on the shelf.
Well, the rats and the mice,
And they lived such a life.
Well, he had to go to London
To buy him a wife.

Roads was muddy,
And the streets was so narrow,
Well, he had to bring her home
On an old wheelbarrow.
Wheelbarrow broke,
And the wife caught a fall,
And the ground caught wheelbarrow,
Wife and all.

(Dr. Wolf: "Where'd you get those two?"
Mr. Ferrell: "Man, I don't . . . I don't have no idea. They just . . . Now, Harry (?), my oldest brother, is the one I heard sing that 'Girl of Seventeen.' And I've been knowing that other all, ever since I can remember. I must have learned it when I was a kid.")
