The sun is now sinking in dillows
That roll in the far distant west.

(Comment by Mrs. Osborne: "No, no.")

My hopes have departed forever;
My vision of true love is o'er.
My heart shall awaken, no, never;
There is joy for my bosom no more.

The garlands that crowned me are blighted;
The roses that crown me are dead.
My faith, once abiding by plighted,
Is broken; my loved one has fled.

The sun is now sinking in dillows
That roll in the far distant west,
But morning will shine through the willows
And find me forever at rest.
