Come, all ye wild rovers, wherever you may be,
I'll tell you a story which happened to me.
I'm a man of experience, and it's very well known
That love has been the ruin of many a one.
That love has been the ruin of many a one.

When you're first starting out, boys, if you mind to be smart,
Don't place your affection on a smiling sweetheart.
They're dancing before you, your favor to gain,
And turn your back upon them with scorn and disdain,
And turn your back upon them with scorn and disdain.

When you go to get married, don't hasten too long;
Be sure you don't marry 'til you're full twenty-one.
For when you are married, you're not your own man;
You can't step aside, boys, to talk to a friend,
But what they'll come around you, saying, "What does this mean?"
And you'll always look downward wherever you're seen.

(Mr. Stark: "I reckon that's all I know of it.")
