As I got up one morning
Down the riverside . . .
(Forgets part, recorder turned off.)
. . . this (Irish?) girl I spied
How red and rosy were her cheeks and curly were her hair;
How costly was those jewels that the Irish girl did wear.

(Spoken comment by Mrs. Sutton: "The last part I forgot, but anyway I think her sweetheart killed her.")
