Just a-wearying for you,
All the time a-feeling blue.
Wishing for you, wondering when
You’ll be coming home again.
Lonely, don’t know what to do,
Just a-wearying for you.

Morning comes, the birds awake,
Used to sing so for your sake,
But the sadness in the notes
That comes trilling from their throats
Seems to feel your absence too (?),
Just a-wearying for you.

Evening comes, I miss you more
When the dark looms ‘round my door.
Seems just like you ought to be
There to open it for me.
Night comes still and fills me through,
Sets me wearying for you.
